Nathan Campbell, a 26-year-old groom from Frome, who appeared on Married at First Sight, has shared his experiences living with ADHD and hopes to increase awareness about neurodiversity.
Throughout his time on the show, he was transparent with his wife, Lacey Martin, about the challenges he faces with ADHD, which can cause inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity.
He explained, “It’s a hidden disability—never judge a book by its cover, everyone deserves a chance.” Mr. Campbell, diagnosed with ADHD at 11, has received positive feedback from social media users thanking him for his openness, with many expressing that it helped them better understand relationships involving neurodiverse conditions.
He also revealed that some of the show’s edits misrepresented his personality, making him appear quieter than he is in real life.
“I do look quite shy on camera but I’m a confident bloke,” he said.
In addition to raising awareness about ADHD, the show also featured moments like him and Lacey getting tattoos during their homestay, which were not shown in the final cut.
The 26-year-old engineer is proud that his participation in the program has brought more attention to neurodiversity, and he hopes it will encourage a more understanding approach toward individuals with similar conditions.
Meanwhile, Emma Barnes, another participant from the same series, made headlines after a controversial comment made by her partner, which he later apologized for.
