Megan Thee Stallion’s unwavering commitment to women’s empowerment was recognized and celebrated as she was bestowed with the Catalyst for Change Award during Planned Parenthood’s Spring Into Action gala in New York City on Tuesday night.
Describing the Houston Hottie as “an outspoken advocate for women’s rights and Planned Parenthood,” the organization praised Megan for utilizing her global platform to raise awareness about its mission and initiatives.
In April 2022, Megan released the single “Plan B” from her album Traumazine, in which she delivered powerful verses alluding to women’s contraceptives. In a show of solidarity, Megan also launched a t-shirt adorned with the “Plan B” lyric “ladies love yourself,” with proceeds benefiting Planned Parenthood’s #BansOffOurBodies campaign, as reported by Click 2 Houston.
Amidst the overturn of Roe vs. Wade, Megan took to Instagram to express her resolve: “The court has failed us all — but we won’t back down. I’m going to keep fighting because everyone deserves access to the care they need.”
During her acceptance speech at the gala, Megan reaffirmed her commitment to women’s advocacy, emphasizing the importance of creating communities where women can access sexual and reproductive health care with love, respect, and compassion.
“I promise to continue to do my part and use my platform to break down barriers and empower women all around the world!” she declared.
