The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, has shared her heartbreak over the death of her beloved beagle, Guy.
In a poignant Instagram post, Meghan expressed her devastation, revealing that she has “cried too many tears to count” and thanked Guy for providing “so many years of unconditional love.”
Meghan adopted Guy from an animal rescue in Canada in 2015, describing him as “the little guy” due to his small and frail condition at the time.
“I named him ‘Guy,’ and he was the best guy any girl could have asked for,” she wrote. Over the years, Guy became an integral part of her life, accompanying her during significant milestones, from her time on Suits to her engagement, marriage, and journey into motherhood.
The duchess shared a touching montage of photos and videos of Guy with her family. In one clip, she is seen making jam while affectionately telling him, “We’re jamming, Guy.”
Another shows her husband, Prince Harry, running along a beach with the dog. A sweet moment at the end of the video features Meghan and one of their children singing, “We love you, Guy, yes we do.”
Meghan noted that Guy would appear in her upcoming Netflix series, With Love, Meghan, offering fans a glimpse into their bond.
“I hope you’ll come to understand why I am so devastated by his loss. I think you may fall a little bit in love too,” she said.
Reflecting on her grief, Meghan shared a deeply emotional message: “I have cried too many tears to count—the type of tears that make you get in the shower with the absurd hope that the running water on your face will somehow make you not feel them, or pretend they’re not there. But they are. And that’s okay too.”
Concluding her tribute, Meghan expressed gratitude for Guy’s presence in her life.
“Thank you for so many years of unconditional love, my sweet Guy. You filled my life in ways you’ll never know.”
