Naomi Campbell’s charity, Fashion for Relief, has been reported to a watchdog by UNICEF UK after the charity falsely claimed to have a partnership with the global children’s organization.
UNICEF clarified that it had no official partnership with Fashion for Relief and did not receive any funds from a 2019 event that was purportedly held to support UNICEF and the Mayor’s Fund for London.
The Charity Commission, the UK charity regulator, confirmed receiving a “serious incident report” from UNICEF in 2022.
This report was part of a broader investigation into Fashion for Relief, which revealed financial mismanagement, including funds being spent on luxury hotels, spa treatments, and cigarettes for Campbell.
Last week, Naomi Campbell, 54, was banned from being a charity trustee for five years following the inquiry’s findings.
The inquiry also highlighted that Fashion for Relief did not pass on as much money as promised to other charities like the Mayor’s Fund for London and Save the Children.
Two other trustees, Bianka Hellmich and Veronica Chou, were also banned from charity work for nine and four years, respectively.
Despite the inquiry’s outcome, Campbell expressed concern over the findings and stated she was not in control of the charity.
Fashion for Relief has since been removed from the UK’s charity register.
