Olivia Munn and John Mulaney have expanded their family, welcoming their second child, a baby girl, via surrogate on September 14, 2024. The couple, who also share a 2-year-old son, Malcolm Hiep Mulaney, announced the birth of their daughter, Méi June Mulaney, on Instagram on September 22.
In a heartfelt post, Olivia, 44, and John, 42, shared a series of photos capturing the special moment, including one of Olivia holding their newborn while sitting on John’s lap in a hospital bed. Other pictures featured the family of four enjoying a peaceful moment at an oceanfront location.
The birth of their daughter comes just months after Olivia revealed her battle with breast cancer, which included undergoing a double mastectomy, hysterectomy, and oophorectomy. These surgeries left her unable to conceive naturally, but she and John had previously created “two healthy embryos” through IVF.
“I had so many profound emotions about not being able to carry my daughter,” Olivia wrote in her post, expressing deep gratitude for their gestational surrogate. “When I first met our surrogate, we spoke mother to mother. She showed me so much grace and understanding, I knew I had found a real-life angel.”
Méi, pronounced “May,” means “plum” in Chinese, a nod to Olivia’s Chinese heritage. “I am so proud of my little plum, my little dragon for making the journey to be with us,” Olivia added.
John, who has been in a relationship with Olivia since 2021, shared his joy about becoming a father to a baby girl, while humorously noting the perks of hospital freebies. In his post, he included a video of baby Méi spitting up milk while being burped, playfully writing, “I love my little girl so much.”
