Hollyoaks actor and reality TV star Paul Danan died at his Bristol home in January at the age of 46 due to a fatal combination of drugs, an inquest has revealed.
The hearing, held at Avon Coroner’s Court, confirmed Danan’s cause of death as combined toxicity from heroin, methadone, codeine, pregabalin, cocaine, zopiclone, and benzodiazepines.
His partner, Melissa Crooks, identified his body after he was found unresponsive at his home in Brislington. E
mergency services pronounced him dead at 5:20 PM on January 15.
Danan, known for playing Sol Patrick in Hollyoaks and his appearances on Celebrity Love Island and Celebrity Big Brother, had spoken publicly about his struggles with drug addiction.
He previously revealed he had spent over £1 million on rehab after battling substance abuse in his 20s, following career setbacks in Hollywood.
At the time of his death, Danan was facing legal issues and had been scheduled to appear in court on January 16 for drug possession and driving under the influence charges.
Despite his struggles, he dedicated time to helping others, launching drama classes in Bristol for adults dealing with addiction and mental health issues.
His management company described him as a “beacon of light to so many,” remembered for his talent, kindness, and resilience. His full inquest hearing is set for May 28.
