Paul Mescal and Barry Keoghan have been confirmed to portray members of The Beatles in a groundbreaking four-film biopic series about the legendary band.
Mescal, known for Normal People and Gladiator II, will play Sir Paul McCartney, while Saltburn star Keoghan will take on the role of drummer Ringo Starr.
They will be joined by Harris Dickinson as John Lennon and Joseph Quinn as George Harrison in the cinematic project directed by Oscar-winner Sir Sam Mendes.
Announced at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, the unique quadrilogy will feature each film from the perspective of a different band member, offering an intimate look into their lives.
Mendes explained that compressing The Beatles’ story into a single film felt inadequate, and a TV series did not capture the scale of their legacy.
The films, set for release in April 2028, mark the first time all four Beatles and their estates have granted full rights to a scripted feature.
The cast brings an impressive resume to the ambitious project. Mescal, 29, rose to fame in Normal People before earning an Oscar nomination for Aftersun and starring in All of Us Strangers.
Dickinson, 28, gained recognition in The King’s Man and Triangle of Sadness and is a rising contender for the role of James Bond.
Keoghan, 32, is widely regarded as one of Hollywood’s top talents following his Oscar-nominated performance in The Banshees of Inisherin.
Quinn, 31, known for Stranger Things and A Quiet Place: Day One, will also play Johnny Storm/Human Torch in Marvel’s Fantastic Four.
The Beatles, formed in 1960, revolutionized music with albums like Revolver, Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, and The White Album. Despite their split in 1970, they remain the best-selling band of all time.
John Lennon was tragically murdered in 1980, and George Harrison passed away in 2001, leaving McCartney and Starr as the surviving members. In 2023, they released their “final” song, Now And Then, which became a chart-topping success.
Previous films like Backbeat (1994), Nowhere Boy (2009), and Martin Scorsese’s Living in the Material World (2011) have explored aspects of The Beatles’ journey, but Mendes’ quadrilogy promises an unprecedented deep dive into the personal and musical lives of each member.
Described as the “first bingeable theatrical experience,” the project is set to be a cinematic event celebrating the greatest band in history.
