Developers Mi7 Projects Ltd have submitted plans to transform an unused triangular plot at the junction of Thornton Road and Listerhills Road in Bradford into a vibrant new street food venue, TriYard.
Designed to be a “green oasis amidst a dense built area,” the site will feature food stalls serving a global mix of cuisines and will regularly host food festivals and other community events.
TriYard aims to become a cultural hub, celebrating Bradford’s diverse food offerings while supporting local vendors who have faced challenges finding space since the nearby market downsized.
Positioned within walking distance of the city center, the venue will offer a unique social space for nearby university students and the broader community.
According to developers, TriYard will be “enhanced by colourful murals, street art, and warm lighting” and will feature vendors offering options “from Asian teas to Middle Eastern healthy bites.”
Emphasizing environmental consciousness, the design will focus on greener food offerings and integrate natural elements.
Food stalls, seating, and pathways will create a harmonious flow, combining industrial and modern aesthetics with greenery for a “sense of green oasis.”
Bradford Council had previously granted temporary planning permission for a street food business to operate on the site using a renovated vintage vehicle, stipulating that the site be cleared within two years.
Now, TriYard seeks to establish a long-term, viable use for the area, enhancing Bradford’s food landscape. A decision on the application is anticipated by the end of the year.
