Quavo has initiated a groundbreaking effort in remembrance of his late nephew, Takeoff, with a bold mission to address gun violence in Atlanta.
According to Billboard’s report on Wednesday (March 20), the former Migos member has introduced the Sparks Grants Initiative.
This program aims to provide ten local organizations with grants of $10,000 each to support their initiatives focused on gun violence prevention and regulation.
“I am honored to launch this grant program to honor Take and the countless families that have been affected by gun violence,” Quavo said.
“The Rocket Foundation will be giving out $100,000 in Spark grants to local organizations dedicated to reducing community violence in Atlanta.”
Quavo emphasized the importance of uplifting these organizations and extending support to amplify their efforts, aiming to save more lives amidst the ongoing challenges faced by the community.
Applications for the grants are currently open, with the deadline set for April 21, providing an opportunity for eligible organizations to apply and contribute to the collective efforts against gun violence.
Since the tragic loss of his nephew in November 2022, Quavo has consistently honored Takeoff’s memory. Notably, at the Grammy Awards in February 2023, he delivered a poignant performance of “Without You” during the ceremony’s In Memoriam segment.

Clad in a black mask, Quavo stood alongside the Maverick City Music choir, holding up Takeoff’s chain as a tribute to the late rapper.
In a candid interview posted on his YouTube channel in July, Quavo revealed the profound impact of Takeoff’s passing, admitting to moments of intense emotional pain. He shared, “I think about [Takeoff] all the time.
Sometimes I cry myself to sleep, you know, and that’s it. I just know he’s here.” Takeoff tragically lost his life at the age of 28 outside 810 Billiards and Bowling Alley in Houston on November 1, 2022, following a dispute stemming from a dice game.
His untimely death led to two arrests in connection with the incident, sparking a call for action against gun violence in communities across the nation.
