The Bromyard Folk Festival has made its return to Herefordshire for a four-day celebration of folk music. The event, which began on Thursday, saw acoustic folk duo Donnelly & South open the main stage, kicking off the festival’s performances.
Alongside the musical acts, festival-goers can enjoy a variety of workshops, arts and crafts, and food stalls. Since its inception in 1968, the annual event has become a staple in the folk music scene.
This year’s line-up includes performances from Tarren, Amit Dattani, Banter, Janice Burns, and Jon Doran, among others. The festival also offers family-friendly entertainment, with Keith Donnelly curating a special family show and the creative group Wyld Thyngz hosting woodland workshops aimed at younger audiences.
Event volunteer Lynn Barker noted a significant increase in ticket sales this year, which she attributes partly to the decline of other festivals. “We’re well above anything we’ve ever sold before,” she said. Despite the challenges of being a volunteer-run event reliant on ticket sales with minimal sponsorship, the festival has managed to stay afloat.
The Bromyard Folk Festival will continue through the weekend, concluding on Sunday.
