The Scissor Sisters are set to hit the UK in May 2025 for a 10-date tour, celebrating 20 years since the release of their chart-topping debut album, Scissor Sisters.
Reflecting on the milestone, frontman Jake Shears told BBC News, “It feels like yesterday, and then it also feels like a really long time ago.”
Founding member Ana Matronic will not join the reunion, but the band plans to pay tribute to her on stage.
“It gives us an opportunity to do things in kind of a different way,” shared keyboardist and bassist Scott “Baby Daddy” Hoffman. “Not to replace Ana, but to bring some friends on stage for fun moments.”
One potential guest could be singer Rebecca Lucy Taylor, who starred alongside Shears in a London production of Cabaret last year.
“God, I love her so much,” Shears said enthusiastically. “Any time I’m on stage with her is a treat.”
Baby Daddy echoed his excitement, hinting, “Maybe she’ll come do some songs.”
Shears promised fans an electrifying live experience, filled with “a little bit of chaos and anarchy.”
He added, “We’re definitely gonna bring that ‘anything can happen’ energy again.”
Emerging from New York’s queer nightlife, Scissor Sisters first captivated audiences with their bold cover of Pink Floyd’s Comfortably Numb in 2003.
Their debut album became the UK’s best-selling record of 2004, packed with hits like Take Your Mama and Filthy/Gorgeous, and earned them three Brit Awards.
They later topped the UK singles chart with I Don’t Feel Like Dancin’, co-written with Elton John, and enjoyed further success with songs like Fire With Fire and Only The Horses, produced by Calvin Harris.
After releasing four albums, the band announced a hiatus during the final night of their Roundhouse residency in London, with Shears telling fans, “This will be the last time we play in London for quite some time.”
Now, with their return on the horizon, Scissor Sisters are poised to bring their signature flair back to the stage.
