Sean “Diddy” Combs is seeking the dismissal of Jane Doe’s sexual misconduct lawsuit against him, claiming that the statute of limitations for the alleged incident has expired.
The rapper has filed a motion to dismiss the complaint with prejudice, asserting that important details surrounding the alleged assault were omitted from the lawsuit.
According to TMZ, Combs’ attorneys argue that the amended complaint fails to rectify the deficiencies of the original filing and does not state any viable claims against their client.
They further allege that the lawsuit lacks specificity regarding the date and time of the alleged incident, yet includes highly detailed and salacious descriptions of the events.
In his filing, Combs contends that the suit is an attempt to attract attention to Doe’s claims by including a “trigger warning,” and he asserts that the case should be dismissed to prevent further reputational harm to him and his associates. He emphasizes the need to conserve judicial resources and protect against false accusations.
Doe initially filed her lawsuit in December 2023, alleging that Combs sex trafficked, drugged, and gang-raped her in 2003 when she was 17 years old.
She claimed that she was introduced to Combs by Harve Pierre, a former president of Combs’ record label, and was subsequently assaulted by Combs, Pierre, and another individual at a recording studio in New York City.
Despite the inclusion of photos allegedly taken at the studio on the night of the incident, Combs maintains his innocence and has denied similar allegations made by three other women and one man. He is currently under investigation for sex trafficking by federal authorities, although he has not been charged with any crimes.
The outcome of Combs’ motion to dismiss Jane Doe’s lawsuit remains pending, as the legal battle continues amid ongoing scrutiny and investigations into the mogul’s conduct.
