Selena Gomez, 31, is set to step into the shoes of music legend Linda Ronstadt in an upcoming biopic, as confirmed by Rolling Stone.
The biographical film is still in its early stages, with additional details about the project, including the supporting cast and the studio involved, yet to be revealed.
The 77-year-old music icon’s memoir, “Simple Dreams,” serves as the primary source material for the biopic, and the production is in capable hands with co-producers John Boylan, Ronstadt’s manager, and James Keach, known for his work on “Linda and the Mockingbirds.”
Fueling speculation about Gomez’s involvement, the “Only Murders in the Building” star recently shared the cover of Ronstadt’s memoir on her Instagram Stories.

TMZ reports that Ronstadt personally endorsed Gomez for the role, considering her the perfect fit. The two, both of Mexican descent, reportedly met privately at Ronstadt’s home to discuss the project.
Despite the exciting news of her latest career move, Gomez recently made headlines for a seemingly unrelated event at the Golden Globes.
While gossiping with Taylor Swift, some speculated that she was discussing a photo with Kylie Jenner and boyfriend Timothée Chalamet. However, Gomez clarified that the conversation was about two friends who had connected romantically.
In the aftermath of the Golden Globes drama, Gomez announced a temporary hiatus from social media to focus on “what really matters,” suggesting that the recent events may have prompted her to step back from the digital sphere temporarily.
