In a candid cover story for Time Magazine’s May issue, Selena Gomez, the 31-year-old singer and actress, opened up about her down-to-earth approach to life despite her immense fame.
Central to the discussion was her relationship with music producer Benny Blanco, 36, and her unwavering commitment to their connection, regardless of external scrutiny.
Gomez shared with Time Magazine’s Lucy Feldman the unexpected nature of her relationship with Blanco, which blossomed last December.
Initially, Gomez considered Blanco only as a friend and even sought his help in setting her up with someone else before realizing her feelings for him.
“It just happens when you least expect it,” Gomez remarked during the interview.
When questioned about Blanco’s recent comments on Howard Stern’s show, where he expressed his desire to marry and have children with her, Gomez brushed it off with a laugh, highlighting Blanco’s honesty and inability to lie.
“He can’t lie to save his life. If he’s asked a question, he’ll answer it,” Gomez quipped.
Despite the public scrutiny she faces in her relationships, Gomez emphasized her partner’s resilience in the face of criticism and expressed her gratitude for his unwavering support.
“I know what people can do to people I love. My own fans, who I adore and feel like have shaped who I am, will say the most hurtful things to me about how I live my life,” Gomez revealed. “But he has the strength in him that none of that noise fazes him. It’s really impressive, and I just cherish every moment with him.”
Gomez also addressed her future projects, including the success of her Spanish-language musical crime-comedy film “Emilia Pérez,” which received an 11-minute standing ovation at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival earlier this month.
Additionally, she announced the return of the “Wizards Beyond Waverly Place” series, a reboot of her hit 2007 Disney Channel show, set to premiere on the network later this year before moving to Disney+.
