Detroit rapper Skilla Baby has left fans intrigued with his list of dream collaborators, which includes some unexpected names in the music industry.
In an exclusive interview with People magazine’s Brenton Blanchet, Skilla Baby shared his aspiration to collaborate with British singing sensation Adele.
Expressing his admiration, Skilla Baby confessed: “I would love to have a song with Adele,” after showcasing his vocal prowess by singing her hit single “Someone Like You.”
He emphasized his versatile approach to music, stating, “I don’t put a limit on myself. I don’t limit myself to, ‘OK, I’m just going to be a gangsta rapper. I’m just going to be a rapper today.’ I’m going to do what I feel like.”
Skilla Baby’s wishlist extends beyond Adele to encompass several other female superstars. When asked about artists who would “surprise” people, he named icons like Anita Baker, Summer Walker, Jhené Aiko, and Nicki Minaj.
Additionally, he expressed a deep-rooted appreciation for 1990s R&B legends TLC, En Vogue, Brandy, and Monica, emphasizing his desire to collaborate with them for the culture.
“These are people I’ve been a fan of since I was, yay high,” Skilla Baby remarked.
“But I’m a big fan of those girls, those artists. And any of the groups that I used to listen to or my mom used to listen to, TLC, that type of stuff, En Vogue. I would love to just for the culture like Brandy, Monica, Keyshia Cole, all those type of people, I would love to do music with them more than I would love to do music with rappers.”
Currently embarking on his 17-date Vultures Eat the Most Tour, which kicked off on May 30, Skilla Baby is riding high on the success of his latest album, “The Coldest,” released in April.
The album features notable guest appearances from artists like Moneybagg Yo, Polo G, G Herbo, Flo Milli, NoCap, Mozzy, and Rob49.
