SZA recently took to social media to announce changes to her upcoming deluxe edition of “SOS” after several songs were leaked prematurely.
In a series of now-deleted tweets, SZA expressed frustration over the leaks and revealed her decision to pivot to a new project called “LANA.”
The leaks prompted SZA to scrap the original plans for the deluxe edition of “SOS” and instead focus on “LANA” as a standalone project.
“So we’ll make this really simple. Y’all leaked 3 songs from the deluxe. Atp y’all can keep the throw aways and leaks,” she tweeted, as reported by Variety. “I’ll be starting LANA from scratch do not ask me about it again. Thank you .”
SZA had initially introduced “LANA” as a deluxe version of “SOS,” describing it as a “whole ‘nother album” during a concert in Brooklyn last September.
However, after the leaks, she decided that “LANA” deserved to be its own project and would require more time to develop.

In response to the leaks, SZA emphasized the importance of protecting artists’ work and intellectual property.
“Leaking my music is stealing,” she wrote on social media. “This is my job. This is my life and my intellectual property. You are a fucking thief and I promise to put maximum energy into holding everyone accountable to the full extent of the law.”
The decision to shift focus to “LANA” comes amid ongoing frustrations over leaks and unauthorized releases of her music. Punch, president of Top Dawg Entertainment and SZA’s manager, echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the negative impact of oversaturation on the value of artists’ work.
SZA’s announcement regarding “LANA” signals a new direction for the artist and demonstrates her commitment to delivering quality music to her fans while protecting her creative process from leaks and unauthorized distribution.
