T.J. Miller has clarified that there is no bad blood between him and his Deadpool costar Ryan Reynolds, despite past tension.
The actor, who played Weasel in Deadpool (2016) and Deadpool 2 (2018), previously accused Ryan of being “horrifically mean” during reshoots for Deadpool 2, which led him to state in 2022 that he would never work with Ryan again.
However, during a recent interview on SiriusXM’s The Bonfire on Nov. 12, T.J. revealed that he and Ryan have since reconciled.
“We talked a little while ago,” T.J. shared, adding that Ryan has been “such a good friend right now.”
When asked if he’d be open to working with Ryan again, especially on a future Deadpool film, T.J. responded, “That would be awesome.”
This shift in their relationship comes after T.J. publicly shared his grievances about an on-set incident while filming Deadpool 2, where he felt Ryan was rude and dismissive towards him.
T.J. recounted a moment where Ryan, in character as Deadpool, reportedly criticized T.J.’s role as Weasel in a way that felt personal.
“He was like, ‘You know what’s great about you, Weasel? You’re not the star, but you do just enough exposition that it’s funny, and then we can leave and get back to the real movie,'” T.J. recalled.
Following the backlash from his comments, T.J. clarified that he did not intend to publicly call out Ryan.
He explained that Ryan had privately reached out to him via email to address the issue, and the two quickly resolved the misunderstanding.
“It was very cool for him to say, ‘Hey, I just heard on the show that you were upset about this,'” T.J. said, noting that they hashed it out and moved past it.
T.J. admitted that he hadn’t anticipated the story gaining so much attention, explaining, “A big problem I have in general is kind of not thinking about what the repercussions of saying this or that would be.”
