Kenyan singer and media personality Tanasha Donna has announced that she will dissolve her lip fillers following weeks of online debate over her cosmetic procedure.
In April 2024, Tanasha sparked controversy after unveiling her noticeably fuller lips.
She first showcased the results on Snapchat, sharing photos from different angles. While some fans praised her new look, others expressed concern, speculating that the procedure had gone wrong.
The discussion intensified across social media, with critics questioning why she altered her natural beauty.
Among those who weighed in was controversial pastor-turned-TikToker Victor Kanyari, who openly questioned the trend of lip enhancement among women.
In response, Tanasha clarified that she had undergone a temporary lip filler procedure and was still in the healing phase. She urged critics to understand the science behind cosmetic enhancements before passing judgment.
The controversy extended beyond Kenya, reaching Tanzania, where Tanasha has a significant fan base due to her past relationship with singer Diamond Platnumz. Popular Tanzanian blogger Mange Kimambi also weighed in, advising Tanasha to use filters while waiting for the fillers to wear off. Mange reassured her that if she had opted for fillers rather than permanent surgery, she could easily dissolve them.
After initially standing by her decision, Tanasha announced in March 2025 that she would be reversing the procedure.
Taking to Instagram, she wrote, “Okay! I will dissolve my lip fillers. You all won!”—a statement signaling that she had given in to public pressure.
Lip fillers, commonly made of hyaluronic acid, are injected to enhance lip volume and definition, typically lasting between six to twelve months. While the procedure is temporary, its popularity has fueled debates on beauty standards and body modifications.
