Taylor Swift closed out her record-breaking Eras Tour with an emotional final show in Vancouver on Sunday, reflecting on what she called “the most exciting, powerful, electrifying, intense, most challenging” experience of her life.
Addressing the crowd before performing All Too Well, she shared how the past 21 months of touring had been “completely unrecognisable” compared to her previous experiences since starting her career at 15.
Swift paid tribute to her fans, particularly for embracing the friendship bracelet trend inspired by a lyric from You’re On Your Own Kid.
The handmade accessories became a hallmark of the tour, with millions of bracelets exchanged among fans, even involving music legend Sir Paul McCartney at a London show.
Swift expressed pride in the sense of community her fans created, calling it the tour’s lasting legacy.
The Eras Tour kicked off in Arizona in March 2023 with an epic 44-song setlist spanning over three hours.
Demand for tickets was so intense that it crashed Ticketmaster’s system, prompting a US Senate hearing.
Despite the challenges, over 10.1 million tickets were sold for 149 shows across five continents, making it the first tour to surpass $1 billion in ticket sales—a figure expected to double by its conclusion.
Merchandise sales reportedly added another $400 million to the tour’s revenue.
More than 60,000 fans packed Vancouver’s BC Place stadium for the final show, while 389,000 others followed a fan-hosted live stream on YouTube.
Swift, in a nostalgic mood, called the performance “one last grand adventure” with her fans.
As she performed Cardigan from her Folklore album, she reflected on the emotional journey, calling the moment surreal.
Swift also honored her band, dancers, and crew, recognizing their dedication despite personal sacrifices.
During her acoustic set, she played a mash-up of A Place In This World from her debut album and New Romantics from 1989, adding heartfelt touches with Long Live, where she changed the lyrics to “It was the end of an era,” earning a massive cheer.
The acoustic set concluded with The Manuscript, symbolically closing the musical journey.
Fans noted that the acoustic performances had begun in 2023 with her first-ever song, Tim McGraw, and ended with her latest track, The Manuscript.
Only six songs from her 11 studio albums were left unperformed throughout the tour.
Swift’s mother, Andrea, attended the final show, though her boyfriend, NFL star Travis Kelce, was absent due to a game with the Kansas City Chiefs.
Swift playfully dedicated her closing song, Karma, to Kelce, modifying the lyrics to “Karma is the guy on The Chiefs coming straight home to me,” as she has done during previous shows.
Despite speculation that she might announce her next project, including Reputation (Taylor’s Version), Swift chose not to make any major reveals.
Instead, she let the tour speak for itself, celebrating nearly two decades of music that has brought people together worldwide.
As Karma ended, Swift shared an emotional group hug with her dancers and singers.
Departing from her usual exit of being lowered beneath the stage, she walked out hand-in-hand with her team, symbolizing a unified farewell.
It was, quite literally, the end of an era, leaving a legacy that may remain unmatched for years to come.
