Grammy-winning artist Taylor Swift has officially launched her latest original album, “The Tortured Poets Department.”
The album, Swift’s first since “Midnights,” was released on Friday, April 19, to the delight of her fans worldwide.
Announcing the project in early February during her acceptance speech for Best Pop Vocal Album at the Grammys, Swift revealed her dedication to the album, which she had been working on diligently for over two years.
“I’ve been working on Tortured Poets since right after I turned in Midnights,” Swift shared with the audience. “So I started working on it immediately after that, and I’ve been working on it for about two years. I kept working on it throughout the U.S. tour, and when it was perfect in my opinion—when it was good enough for you—I finished it.”
During a tour stop in Melbourne, Swift provided further insights into “TTPD,” expressing her excitement for its release and describing it as an album that deeply resonated with her personal experiences and emotions.
“Tortured Poets Department is an album that, I think, more than any of my albums that I’ve ever made, I needed to make it,” Swift shared with her fans. “It was really a lifeline for me, just the things I was going through, the things I was writing about, it was like—it kind of reminded me of why songwriting is something that actually gets me through my life.”
“The Tortured Poets Department” is structured into four parts (A-D sides) and features a total of 16 tracks. The album’s first single, “Fortnight,” featuring Post Malone, sets the tone as the opening track, with Florence + The Machine being the only other guest artist credited on the tracklist.
Fans can now stream “The Tortured Poets Department” on various major platforms including Apple Music, Spotify, and more.
Following the album release, Swift is set to embark on the UK and Europe leg of her Eras Tour, commencing on May 9 in Paris. The tour will encompass performances in cities such as Stockholm, Madrid, Dublin, Zurich, and London, promising an unforgettable experience for fans across the continent.
