Taylor Swift is channeling major high school vibes at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards! As she accepted the Moon Person for Video of the Year for her hit “Fortnight” with Post Malone, the pop sensation took a moment to give a heartfelt shoutout to her boyfriend, Travis Kelce.
“It was the most fun video to make,” Taylor shared at the Sept. 11 ceremony, hosted by Megan Thee Stallion at New York’s UBS Arena. Although Travis couldn’t join her for the night, his presence was felt. “Something I’ll always remember is finishing a take and hearing someone cheering from across the studio,” she revealed. “That someone was my boyfriend, Travis.”
Taylor, who’s been dating the Kansas City Chiefs star for over a year, expressed her gratitude for his support. “Everything this man touches turns to happiness and fun and magic,” she gushed. “I want to thank him for adding that to our shoot because it’s a memory I’ll always cherish.”
This year, Taylor was a dominant force at the VMAs, snagging seven awards out of her 12 nominations. With this latest haul, she now boasts a record 30 VMAs, surpassing Beyoncé’s solo artist record of 26 and tying for the most overall wins.
In the Best Pop category, Taylor triumphed over stiff competition including Camila Cabello, Dua Lipa, Olivia Rodrigo, Tate McRae, and Sabrina Carpenter. She also took home the coveted Artist of the Year award, edging out other nominees like Ariana Grande, Bad Bunny, Eminem, and SZA.
Sabrina Carpenter, who won her first VMA for Song of the Year last month, has previously spoken about her close bond with Taylor. “It’s so cool to get advice from her and the artist community,” Sabrina told Variety in August. “We’re always sharing our music and supporting each other.”
The admiration is mutual—when Sabrina released her album Short ‘N Sweet in August, Taylor took to Instagram Stories to cheer her on, calling the album “extraordinary.”
It’s clear that both Taylor and Sabrina are not just rising stars but also supportive friends, making their success at the VMAs all the more special.
