Toni Braxton has put an end to the recent swirl of rumors suggesting that she and Birdman had tied the knot in Mexico.
The speculations gained traction over the past few days, prompting Braxton to clarify the situation through a post on her Instagram account.
In a post shared on Sunday, Braxton addressed the rumors directly, stating: “My dear friend @birdman and I are not married… never been married.” She emphasized their single status and debunked the wedding reports, tagging the post with #FakeNews.
Braxton and Birdman’s romantic involvement began in 2016, sparking interest and discussions in the public sphere. Their professional collaboration dates back to 2002 when they collaborated on Birdman’s track “Baby You Can Do It.” Despite keeping a relatively low profile, their relationship became more public in 2017 when Braxton described Birdman as an “undercover romantic” on an episode of Braxton Family Values. Tamar, Braxton’s sister, also confirmed their relationship during an episode of The Wendy Williams Show, referring to Birdman as her brother-in-law.
The couple’s connection resurfaced on social media in 2019 when Birdman posted a now-deleted photo with Braxton, captioned “4LiFe @tonibraxton.” Last month, Braxton shared a photo of herself with Birdman, suggesting they were still together, accompanied by the caption, “Sending Sunday kisses. @birdman [kiss emoji].”
