Tulisa Contostavlos, the N-Dubz star and former X-Factor judge, has opened up about feeling “overwhelmed” since leaving I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! and revealed she is taking time to focus on her mental health.
The 36-year-old was the third contestant to be voted off the ITV series, sparking speculation when she removed all Instagram posts related to the show and skipped the spin-off, I’m a Celebrity… Unpacked.
Addressing fans in an Instagram video, Tulisa explained that the attention has been hard to navigate after her time in the jungle.
“There’s been a lot of bombarding, in a positive way, but because it’s been a while for me, I can get overwhelmed quite easily,” she said.
“I just need to take a bit of time for me and chill. This is all feeling a little much right now.”
Tulisa also clarified why she archived posts made on her behalf during the show, describing them as “random” and not reflective of her style.
She plans to create her own content showcasing her favorite moments from the series once she’s ready.
The singer addressed comments made during an appearance on ITV’s Lorraine that were interpreted as her calling some campmates “fake.”
Tulisa dismissed this, explaining she was “thinking out loud” and only meant that some connections naturally grow stronger than others.
“I don’t think any of my campmates are fake,” she clarified.
“I love my jungle buddies, but some friendships just blossom into something really deep, and that’s all I was trying to say.”
As an introvert, Tulisa admitted that adjusting to life in the jungle and then facing the public spotlight has been challenging.
“I’ve seen loads of attention, and I’m like, whoa, this is a lot,” she shared.
Known for her rise to fame in the 2000s with N-Dubz and her later solo career, Tulisa stepped back from the public eye after a tumultuous period in her life.
In 2014, she faced legal battles when an undercover reporter accused her of brokering a drug deal, but the trial collapsed after the reporter was discredited.
Tulisa has also been candid about her struggles with Bell’s Palsy, a condition that temporarily affects facial muscles, and her journey through surgeries and treatments to regain confidence.
“I’ve been out of the spotlight for a long time, and I’m still trying to overcome my challenges,” she said.
“I’ve got my little demons, but that doesn’t mean I’m going to hide under a rock for another 10 years. I just need time to process and get right with my thoughts.”
Despite the hurdles, Tulisa remains determined to navigate this new chapter at her own pace, embracing both her personal growth and the connections she formed during her jungle experience.
