Ty Dolla $ign, the renowned artist and producer, is breathing new life into an old Kanye West leak. By revisiting this track and updating it, he’s generating significant buzz around his forthcoming album.
On October 10, while commanding the turntables at a club in Florence, Italy, the 41-year-old artist revived his previously shelved collaboration with Kanye West and Nicki Minaj, titled “New Body.” This wasn’t an entirely unexpected move, as he had done something similar just the previous month.
Back in September, Ty Dolla $ign unveiled this track at the Le Baroque Club in Geneva, Switzerland, after it had gone missing for years. He concluded the tease with a major announcement, informing the crowd of an impending “New album on the muthafuckin’ way.”
“New Body” was originally planned for Kanye West’s Yandhi album in 2019, with a feature from Nicki Minaj. However, the release never materialized, and the collaboration was put on hold. In a previous interview with Hot 106, Nicki Minaj shed light on the reasons behind the track’s shelving, attributing it to Kanye’s shift towards creating a gospel album.

Nicki Minaj explained, “I respect everybody and where they are in life, where they are spiritually. The public adored ‘New Body.’ Like, ‘New Body’ is the biggest hit record that never came out. So what I thought was interesting was that Kanye made me write my ‘New Body’ verse four times over to fit into where he was creatively and spiritually in his life, right, only to then, I go on the internet a few months later to see him on Drink Champs.” She added, “I missed it by a year, I guess. Had ‘New Body’ been out when he was not in his gospel era, then it would’ve seen the light of day. But it didn’t, so it wasn’t meant to be. Everybody knows that’s the hit that got away… I think the ship has sailed for ‘New Body,’ everybody has come to love the original way they heard it.”
Back in 2019, Nicki Minaj also revealed in an interview with The Shade Room that she had been asked to re-record her “New Body” verse to transform it into a gospel track for Kanye’s “Jesus Is King” album. However, she expressed that she and Kanye weren’t “seeing eye to eye” on the project.
This fresh revival of “New Body” by Ty Dolla $ign is igniting anticipation and excitement within the music community. It seems that the time has come for this once-dormant track to see the light of day and get the attention it deserves, adding to the ever-growing anticipation surrounding Ty Dolla $ign’s upcoming album. Music enthusiasts and fans of both Ty Dolla $ign and Kanye West can hardly contain their excitement for what’s next in the world of music.
