Fifteen-year-old Arlo Turner from Great Witley, Worcestershire, is making his big-screen debut in the highly anticipated film adaptation of Wicked, starring alongside Hollywood stars like Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande, and Jeff Goldblum.
Arlo plays a “Munchkinland kid” and delivers the film’s first line: “Good news – the witch is dead!”
A Year 11 student at Chantry School in Martley, Arlo previously appeared in a non-speaking role in the Matilda musical adaptation.
He auditioned for Wicked in July 2022 and learned he had been cast eight months later.
Arlo has always been passionate about the performing arts, attending Beat Breakerz dance school in Worcester before moving to Shaun Paul Smith Dance Academy in Redditch.
Arlo’s mother, Charlotte, shared that he has always loved dancing in public spaces, often performing alongside buskers.
She also emphasized the importance of humility and teamwork throughout his journey.
“When he was auditioning, we talked about how important dance was but also how you conduct yourself,” she said. “Arlo just exudes that through and through.”
On set, Arlo had the chance to meet Ariana Grande, who he described as “so nice.”
They chatted about enjoying childhood and not growing up too fast, a piece of advice that Arlo took to heart.
Wicked is now showing in cinemas.
