Lena Waithe is showing unwavering support for her partner, Cynthia Erivo, as the Tony Award winner garners recognition for her role in Wicked.
The actress and singer, who earned a Golden Globe nomination for her performance alongside Ariana Grande, is getting a constant boost from Lena, who shared that the Wicked soundtrack is on repeat in her life.
During an appearance at Saint & Citizen Presents: Saint Sessions Live’s Miami Art Week Edition on December 7, Lena admitted that the song “What Is This Feeling?” is currently stuck in her head.
“You’re not alone,” Lena told the interviewer, Sydney Matone, laughing about how the tune lingers in the mind.
She also mentioned that “Defying Gravity” is another favorite from the film’s soundtrack.
Lena has been publicly praising Cynthia’s talent, sharing posts on her Instagram Story celebrating Cynthia’s achievements, including the Golden Globe nominations.
One post featured a playful line alteration from the film’s lyrics, changing “green skin” to “Golden Globe nominated.”
Lena also celebrated Cynthia’s upcoming Variety cover with Angelina Jolie, further showing her admiration for her partner.
While Lena is vocal in her support, Cynthia remains private about her personal life.
In a September interview with Vanity Fair, Cynthia explained that she prefers to keep her relationships private, stating, “My relationship is for me,” and emphasizing the importance of maintaining some privacy despite sharing so much of her life with the public.
Cynthia also affirmed her identity as a queer person, comfortable in her fluidity regarding romantic relationships.
