Thirteen-year-old Isobel from Congleton, Cheshire, is preparing for a special moment in the spotlight as she joins the Children in Need choir for Friday’s live show.
Despite being deaf in her left ear, Isobel will both sing and sign the lyrics, sharing her love for music with the audience.
“Music lets me express myself in a way that’s different,” she said. Although her hearing impairment can be challenging, Isobel remains drawn to the beauty of music.
Her older brother Finley, who often hears her singing in the room next door, admires her determination to excel in music, despite her disability.
Isobel’s family is learning British Sign Language, part of a Children in Need-funded project to ensure she has a reliable way to communicate if her hearing deteriorates further.
Reflecting on her journey, Isobel said, “I’m really excited to show how Children in Need have helped me grow my confidence in signing.”
She is already working on her Level One BSL qualification to build a strong foundation for her future.
With her school choir practice and newfound confidence in sign language, Isobel is set to inspire viewers with her performance, highlighting the support Children in Need offers young people facing challenges.
