Doja Cat, the Los Angeles rapper, has released her highly-anticipated fourth full-length album, “Scarlet.”
The album, which arrives as a follow-up to her Grammy-nominated 2021 project “Planet Her,” features lyrics that suggest she may be ready to settle down.
Amid the tracklist, Doja Cat dedicates several lyrics to her boyfriend, J. Cyrus, on two tracks in particular, “Agora Hills” and “Can’t Wait.” In “Agora Hills,” she hints at marriage by singing lines like, “I wanna show you off, I wanna brag about it, I wanna tie the knot.” She drops further hints in the song, mentioning taking her partner around the world and putting a ring on her hand.
On “Can’t Wait,” Doja Cat continues to express her feelings about the relationship, stating that she wouldn’t go to such lengths for just any man. She references bringing drinks and treats, spending time by the ocean, and sharing love abundantly. She also emphasizes her commitment and faith in the relationship.
Although J. Cyrus is not mentioned by name, the reference to New Orleans in “Can’t Wait” suggests she’s talking about him, given that he is from there. The couple has been dating for nearly a year, with their relationship becoming public in November 2022.

However, J. Cyrus has faced controversy, with allegations of manipulating and emotionally abusing members of his team and streaming community. Several women came forward with such accusations, detailing instances of mistreatment and abuse. He apologized in response to the harassment allegations in 2020.
Doja Cat has been vocal about her relationship with the controversial comedian and has addressed criticism from fans regarding their relationship. In a response to a critical comment on one of her Instagram posts earlier this year, she expressed her indifference to public opinion about her personal life, making it clear that she doesn’t care about others’ judgments.
“Scarlet” marks Doja Cat’s latest musical endeavor and reveals her continued evolution as an artist, as well as her personal experiences and emotions.
