Jamila Woods, an underrated singer and songwriter hailing from Chicago, Illinois, is making her much-anticipated return to the music scene with a sneak peek of her upcoming album.
At just 34 years of age, Woods is gearing up for the release of her third album, marking a noteworthy milestone in her career spanning around six years. This album follows her sophomore release, “LEGACY! LEGACY!” in 2019, making it a considerable gap between projects.
However, the artist appears to be meticulously crafting “Water Made Us,” which is scheduled to drop this coming Friday, October 13.

This forthcoming music release date is already shaping up to be one of the most vibrant Fridays for new music this year, where quality is anticipated to outweigh streaming numbers.
Jamila has proven this with her recently released singles leading up to the album’s launch on the 13th. Her musical journey’s first glimpse came with “Tiny Garden” in July, followed by the poignant and beautiful “Boomerang.” On September 13, Woods unveiled “Good News.”
These prior releases lead up to her latest offering, “Practice.” It has become apparent that there will be at least two guest appearances on the album. “Tiny Garden” featured duendita, while “Practice” welcomes Saba. A prominent lyricist of his generation, Saba also shares roots with Chicago, a connection that shines through as both artists deliver clever and endearing performances depicting the early stages of a budding relationship. Jamila Woods’ project is shaping up to be a musical gem.
