Katy Perry recently opened up about one of her biggest relationship pet peeves—partners who don’t help out around the house. It’s a major red flag for the pop star, which is why she’s especially grateful to her fiancé, Orlando Bloom, for always pitching in with household chores. And she’s not shy about revealing the unique way she shows her appreciation.
In a candid conversation on the September 4 episode of Call Her Daddy with Alex Cooper, Katy shared just how much she values Orlando’s efforts. “If I come downstairs and the kitchen is clean, and you’ve done it all,” she said, “and you’ve done all the dishes, and you’ve closed all the pantry doors, you better be ready to get your d–k sucked.”
Katy’s love language, it turns out, is acts of service. “I mean literally,” she added with a laugh. “I don’t need a red Ferrari! I can buy a red Ferrari. Just do the f–king dishes! I will suck your d–k! It’s that easy.”
Orlando, who shares 4-year-old daughter Daisy Dove with Katy and 13-year-old son Flynn Bloom with ex Miranda Kerr, seems to have mastered this particular love language. The “California Gurls” singer noted that he always makes sure the dishes are done over the weekend when their housekeeper isn’t around.
But Katy was quick to point out that it’s not just about the dishes. Her real message to other men is about sharing the responsibilities at home. “Help around the house, share the load or help the load be lighter,” she emphasized. “The load can be so heavy for women, and there are so many invisible things that we do, and it’s literally about sharing that load.”
In simpler terms, Katy summed up what she values most in Orlando: “He shows up.”
Since they started dating in 2016, Katy and Orlando have been open about what makes their relationship work, and much of it comes down to their commitment to growing together. “We want to evolve,” Katy explained. “That’s, I think, why we’re in our relationship—to become better humans so we can raise this beautiful human being.”
She continued, “It’s been different layers. The more we do the work, the more we find the next level. And sometimes we get stuck, and we’re like, ‘OK, let’s go in to do the work, and this is going to be annoying, and I don’t want to do it.’ But we’re gonna do it. And we find the next level. That’s why we’re continuing in the relationship.”
Orlando, for his part, has previously praised Katy for her support and understanding. “We both respect each other’s paths and journeys and creative endeavors,” he told E! News. “She’s wonderful in that way, in that regard. She’s very supportive.”
