Lala Kent, star of Vanderpump Rules, has opened up about the harrowing birth experience of her daughter, Sosa, who was delivered earlier this month through a sperm donor. In the September 18 episode of her Give Them Lala podcast, Kent described a series of terrifying events that unfolded shortly after Sosa’s birth.
“The cord was wrapped around her neck a couple of times,” Lala revealed. “She goes out and I go to embrace my baby but she does one cry and then it stops.” This initial scare was compounded by another serious issue: Sosa had swallowed a large amount of amniotic fluid due to the rapid delivery. The fluid led to her vomiting and caused her face to turn purple.
Lala, who also has a 4-year-old daughter named Ocean with ex Randall Emmett, spent an extra day in the hospital as doctors worked to address Sosa’s condition. “They’re like, ‘We want a surgeon to look at her because this isn’t normal,’” Lala recounted. Doctors managed to drain the excess fluid through Sosa’s nose, removing 18 milliliters in total.
Despite the intense situation, Sosa did not require pediatric surgery and was eventually allowed to leave the hospital. Since returning home, Lala shared that Sosa has made a remarkable recovery, gaining “a pound in one week.”
In a heartfelt Instagram post on September 18, Lala expressed her joy and gratitude for her new daughter. “My little dream baby entered the world,” she wrote. “I am completely in love with her – We all are. Sosa, you have no idea what you have brought into my life.” She added, “I am blessed to call myself your mama.”
