Ariana Grande received a heartfelt acknowledgment from Paula Abdul for paying homage to Abdul’s iconic 1988 music video “Cold Hearted” in Grande’s latest visual, “Yes, And?”
Paula Abdul expressed her admiration for the tribute on Instagram, sharing a side-by-side comparison of scenes from both music videos.
Abdul’s post featured clips from her “Cold Hearted” video alongside corresponding scenes from Grande’s “Yes, And?” video. The two videos share similarities in terms of rehearsal setups, choreography, and even wardrobe choices.
“Waking up to see @arianagrande pay homage to ‘Cold Hearted’ in her new music video ‘Yes, And?’ was everything!!! What an honor! I love you, Ari!!!” Abdul wrote in her Instagram caption.
Grande, 30, responded to Abdul’s post with gratitude, addressing Abdul as the “sweetest queen.” In her comment, Grande expressed love for Abdul and thanked her for being a source of inspiration.
The visual parallels between the two videos are unmistakable, featuring rehearsal settings where the respective artists and their dance crews perform for industry figures. Additionally, the choreography and Ariana’s outfit in “Yes, And?” bear a resemblance to Paula Abdul’s in “Cold Hearted.”

Grande released “Yes, And?” as the lead single for her upcoming studio album. The song appears to address the controversies surrounding her relationship with Ethan Slater.
In the bridge of the song, Grande addresses the public scrutiny of her personal life with the lyrics, “Your business is yours and mine is mine/Why do you care so much whose dick I ride?”
Grande and Slater’s relationship sparked headlines last summer, shortly after Grande’s divorce announcement from ex-husband Dalton Gomez.
Slater, who is still married to Lilly Jay, faced drama surrounding his relationship with Grande. The controversy heightened when Slater filed for divorce, reportedly blindsiding his wife. Grande and Slater, undeterred by the challenges, were reported to be living together in New York by October.
