Sean “Diddy” Combs is facing a growing legal crisis as attorney Tony Buzbee estimates the number of potential civil lawsuits against the musician could reach 300.
Buzbee revealed that his team received about 3,000 calls from alleged victims since launching a hotline in October.
While legal time limits in some states may prevent certain cases from proceeding, Buzbee expects around 100 to 150 lawsuits to be filed.
Combs has denied all accusations, labeling them “sickening” and claiming they are attempts at a “quick payday.”
His legal team dismissed the allegations as a “reckless media circus” fueled by Buzbee’s outreach efforts.
Combs, currently detained in Manhattan’s Metropolitan Detention Center, faces separate criminal charges of sex trafficking and racketeering, which he also denies. His criminal trial is set for May 2025.
The civil lawsuits cover accusations spanning 20 years from men and women, including claims of rape, drugging, and sexual assault.
One lawsuit named rapper Jay-Z as an alleged participant, prompting Jay-Z to call the claims “idiotic” and accuse Buzbee of extortion.
Combs’ legal team has requested that the identities of the alleged victims be revealed, arguing this is essential for trial preparation.
Judges have ruled that three plaintiffs must disclose their names to proceed.
Buzbee, known for securing high-profile settlements, vowed that his clients would not back down.
Meanwhile, social media has been rife with speculation linking other celebrities to Combs’ alleged crimes, though many claims have been discredited as AI-generated fakes or baseless conspiracy theories.
Legal experts note that Combs’ criminal trial will take precedence due to the Fifth Amendment, which protects defendants from self-incrimination in related civil cases.
Grand jury hearings for the criminal trial are ongoing, with potential new charges or additional defendants possibly being added.
The unfolding legal battle could become one of the most high-profile cases in entertainment history.
