Tia Mowry is setting the record straight after fans were buzzing about her recent comments on her relationship with twin sister, Tamera Mowry.
In a teaser for her upcoming reality show on WeTV, Tia hinted that the two weren’t as “close” anymore, leaving fans wondering what was going on between the Sister, Sister stars.
But Tia has now clarified what she really meant. Speaking exclusively to E! News, she explained that it wasn’t about any tension between the two, but rather the natural distance that happens as life evolves.
“It was more about proximity,” Tia shared. “As siblings, we all grow up, get married, have kids, and take on different roles and responsibilities in life. Tamera is a wife and mother, I’m a mother, and my brother Tavior is a husband and father.”
While the Mowry family’s busy schedules have them moving in different directions, Tia emphasized that this is a beautiful yet challenging part of life.
“We as siblings are not as accessible to one another, and that is both beautiful and challenging,” she said. “What I meant was that the power of chosen family is something I want to highlight in my series.”
Tia, who has two children—Cree, 13, and Cairo, 6—with ex-husband Cory Hardrict, has recently gone through significant changes, including her divorce in October 2022.
She explained that change, while difficult, is also a beautiful part of life.
“Change can be really scary but also beautiful,” she reflected, adding that her reality show aims to inspire others going through transitions, whether it’s changing a job, moving, or leaving a relationship.
Tia also acknowledged the common misunderstandings that come with being in the public eye.
“I don’t want to speak on behalf of my sister, but there’s nothing to say,” she said regarding the buzz about their relationship. “People take things out of context, and it’s just a part of life in this industry.”
Ultimately, Tia’s message is one of growth and hope.
She wants to remind people that change is inevitable but also empowering.
“If I could help anyone, then why not?” she said. “For me, it’s all about using my platform to inspire.”
