Doja Cat has made headlines after announcing her decision to deactivate her Instagram account following a barrage of negative messages.
Over the weekend, the singer took to the platform to explain her departure, citing the need to eliminate negativity from her life.
In a comment under an Instagram post, Doja expressed how certain comments had affected her and prompted her to take action.
“Hey, I’m gonna deactivate because I’m not really feeling this anymore,” she wrote.

“You guys take care of yourselves. I like coming here to find inspo and see people being creative but I just feel like this is getting to be too much. The way I’m spoken to on here and treated makes me have messed up thoughts. Please watch how you talk to and about people on the internet. Bye.”
Shortly after sharing this message, Doja Cat deleted her account, which boasted over 24 million followers.
The 28-year-old artist’s relationship with Instagram has been tumultuous, marked by incidents such as a significant loss of followers last summer following conflicts with her fan base.
In July, Doja engaged in a heated exchange with fans, criticizing them for their chosen monikers. Her remarks led to the closure of several prominent fan pages, including the Kittens Room, Doja HQ, and Doja Cat News.
