SZA has always been candid about her experiences with cosmetic procedures, and recently, she shared an update regarding her health journey.
During the second episode of SHE MD, SZA joined hosts Dr. Thaïs Aliabadi and Mary Alice Haney to discuss her decision to remove breast implants due to complications.
While appearing on the show, SZA revealed that she sought spiritual guidance before undergoing breast surgery, acknowledging that she was supposed to consult with Dr. Aliabadi beforehand.
Despite this, she proceeded with the procedure, which ultimately led to unforeseen issues.
“I put ’em in, they ended up hurting me,” SZA disclosed.
“I got way too much scar tissue because my breasts are too dense and I’m not supposed to have breast implants, and I ended up getting extra fibrosis, like, with tissue or whatever. And I didn’t feel good and it was painful, so I took ’em out and now they’re just my boobs.”
The decision to remove the implants was influenced by SZA’s family history of breast complications, including her mother’s battle with breast cancer and her aunt’s mastectomy.
With a 53% lifetime risk of developing breast cancer herself, SZA opted to prioritize her health and underwent the removal procedure.
Reflecting on the outcome, SZA expressed gratitude for her decision and the support of her loved ones. “God is good…I haven’t even felt my boobs in so long, but they feel pretty normal to me, I don’t feel any lumps,” she shared.

While cosmetic enhancements are common in the entertainment industry, SZA’s journey serves as a reminder of the complexities and potential consequences involved.
Despite the challenges she faced with breast implants, SZA’s decision to undergo a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) remains unchanged.
Addressing her reasons for the procedure in 2023, SZA emphasized personal choice over industry pressure, stating, “I didn’t succumb to industry pressure, I succumbed to my own eyes in the mirror and being like, ‘No, I need some more ass.’”
