The Northampton Film Festival and Family Support Link are among several local initiatives set to benefit from grants provided by Northampton Town Council.
These funds will support cultural, social, and community efforts, further demonstrating the council’s dedication to enhancing the lives of residents.
The Northampton Film Festival, an annual event celebrating local filmmaking talent, has been awarded £5,503 to help fund its 2025 edition.
This grant will be used for planning, promoting, and organizing the festival, which was first established in 2019 to “shout about the brilliant town of Northampton.”
The festival’s competition has previously featured high-profile judges, including actors Julie Hesmondhalgh, Hugh Dennis, and Colin Salmon.
Becky Carrier, a representative from the festival, expressed gratitude for the council’s ongoing support, stating, “We’re extremely grateful for the repeated support from Northampton Town Council for Northampton Film Festival.
We plan to showcase more local talent and bring in more visitors to the town than ever before in 2025, combined with a new free film offering to the public in our The Creative Place space on Northampton Market Square.”
In addition to the festival, Family Support Link, a local charity aiding families affected by substance abuse, will receive £3,150.
The funding will allow the organization to continue offering vital services, including advice, support, and resources, to families in Northampton dealing with the challenges of substance misuse.
The Moulton Leys Residents Association has also been awarded £2,590 to improve local infrastructure. The association aims to use the funds to enhance community spaces, making them safer and more accessible, while fostering a sense of pride among local residents.
Jane Birch, chair of the town council’s grants committee, expressed her enthusiasm for the approved funding: “I am delighted that these grants underscore Northampton Town Council’s commitment to fostering initiatives that benefit the local community, from cultural events to critical support services and infrastructure projects.”
