SZA is opening up about her decision to undergo Brazilian butt lift (BBL) surgery, admitting she now has mixed feelings about it.
In a candid interview with British Vogue published on November 14, the “Kill Bill” singer reflected on the aftermath of the procedure, which she turned to after workouts failed to deliver the results she wanted.
“I’m so mad I did that s–t,” SZA, whose real name is Solána Imani Rowe, shared. “I gained all this weight from being immobile while recovering and trying to preserve the fat. It was just so stupid.”
Despite her reservations, SZA, 35, said she’s learning to take it in stride. “But who gives a f–k?” she continued. “You got a BBL, you realize you didn’t need the s–t.
It doesn’t matter. I’ll do a whole bunch more s–t just like it if I want to before I’m f–king dead because this body is temporary. It just wasn’t super necessary.”
The procedure, which involves transferring fat from areas like the hips, thighs, or lower back to the buttocks, according to the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery, wasn’t entirely a loss for SZA.
She still appreciates the results.
“I love my butt, don’t get me wrong,” she explained. “My booty look nice. And I’m grateful that it looks pretty much… I don’t know, sometimes natural, but I don’t even care. It’s something that I wanted. I’m enjoying it. I love shaking it.”
However, the “Saturn” singer, who has also been transparent about her experience with breast implants—later choosing to have them removed—revealed a deeper reason for her regrets: her neglect of overall wellness.
“I have other s–t that I need to work on about myself,” she admitted.
“I need to get my f–king mental health together. Not to say you can’t do those things simultaneously, just, for me, I realize wherever you go, there you’ll be.”
