Rock legend Rod Stewart has been confirmed to headline Glastonbury’s iconic legends slot in 2025, marking his return to the festival 23 years after his last appearance.
The 79-year-old music icon will perform on the coveted Sunday afternoon slot, following in the footsteps of previous legends such as Dolly Parton, Barry Gibb, Shania Twain, and Kylie Minogue.
Stewart, one of the best-selling artists of all time, expressed his excitement about the performance, stating, “I’m proud, ready and more than able to pleasure and titillate my friends at Glastonbury” next June.
This will be his first performance at the festival since 2002 when he headlined alongside Coldplay and Stereophonics.
That year, Stewart entertained the crowd with hits like Maggie May and Do Ya Think I’m Sexy? before ending his set with Sailing, drawing a massive singalong as fireworks lit up the Pyramid Stage.
The Sunday teatime slot is one of the festival’s biggest draws, and Stewart will become the first artist to both headline the festival and be given legends billing.
This announcement comes shortly after Stewart revealed plans to retire from “large-scale world tours” after 2025.
His Glastonbury performance will be part of his final touring schedule.
Glastonbury 2025 is set to take place from 25-29 June at Worthy Farm in Somerset.
The event has already sold out, with resale tickets expected to go on sale in the New Year.
Rumors of other headliners include Sam Fender, Olivia Rodrigo, Stevie Wonder, Eminem, and Charli XCX.
