The Wolverhampton Literature Festival has revealed its full programme for the ninth annual event, set to take place from 31 January to 2 February 2025 across various city venues.
Promising “a weekend of creativity, discovery, and connection,” the festival will feature a diverse range of guests and activities.
Opening day highlights include comedian and actor Al Murray presenting his book Arnhem: Black Tuesday at the city’s art gallery, where he delves into the pivotal World War Two battle.
Music fans can look forward to former The Jam drummer Rick Buckler sharing stories from his career at the Robin 2.
On 1 February, Nigerian author Abi Daré will discuss her second novel, And So I Roar, at the art gallery, followed by journalist Ashley John-Baptiste sharing his personal journey of growing up in the British care system.
The festival’s final day features crime author Mark Billingham unveiling his latest book and comedian Shappi Khorsandi performing her show Scatter Brain, a humorous exploration of living with ADHD.
Actor and author Jassa Ahluwalia, Wolverhampton comedian Rob Manuel, and a host of poets and performers will also make appearances.
Chris Burden, the council’s cabinet member for city development, jobs, and skills, described the festival as a celebration of Wolverhampton’s vibrant arts and culture, adding, “There’s truly something for everyone, and we can’t wait to welcome you.”
