Model and actress Cara Delevingne has transformed into music icon Elton John for a reimagining of his classic song “Step Into Christmas.”
In the new video, Delevingne sports Elton’s signature oversized glasses, a colorful waistcoat, and a wig, creating a striking resemblance to the legendary musician.
Delevingne described playing the 77-year-old star as “a dream I didn’t know I had until it happened,” adding, “I wish I could pretend to be Elton every day.”
The recreation mirrors the original 1973 video, blending behind-the-scenes moments with near-identical performances.
Delevingne playfully declares she’s taking on Sir Elton’s role, much to the disbelief of fictional producers in the video.
Sir Elton revealed that he and Delevingne had talked about collaborating when they met at the Glastonbury music festival over the summer.
“She’s hilarious to spend time with, and we both have quite a self-deprecating sense of humor,” he said.
When the idea of Delevingne playing him emerged, he thought it was “the perfect opportunity.”
Delevingne, 32, called Sir Elton an idol and credited his music with having a profound impact on her.
In a humorous twist, she joked about wanting him to play her in a future biopic that has yet to be written, pitched, or funded.
Originally released in November 1973, “Step Into Christmas” peaked at number 24 in the UK and topped the Billboard Christmas Singles chart in the US.
The song has recently climbed to number 15 in the UK singles chart.
Meanwhile, Sir Elton shared an update on his health, revealing ongoing vision issues.
He told ABC’s Good Morning America that he lost sight in his right eye due to an infection, while his left eye is also impaired.
Despite these challenges, he assured fans on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert that he still plans to create music and pursue his “musical future.”
