Christina Milian has officially left the U.S. to settle in France with her husband, Matt Pokora, and their children.
After years of commuting back and forth every six months, the Dip It Low singer confirmed on The Jennifer Hudson Show that they decided to make the permanent move last year so their children—Isaiah, 4, Kenna, 3, and Violet, 14 (whom Milian shares with ex-husband The-Dream)—could begin school in France.
“What’s better than an opportunity like that?” she said of the cultural experience her kids are now enjoying.
Though Milian loves life in Paris, she admits adjusting to the language barrier has been a challenge. Fluent in English and Spanish, the 43-year-old is still learning French.
“Everyone is speaking French,” she shared, saying she initially took advantage of group meals to focus on eating instead of conversation.
But a date night with Matt—where he spent nearly two hours conversing in French with a restaurant host—made her realize the importance of learning the language.
“It’s time to stop making excuses and challenge myself,” she joked, adding that her language skills are now “Franglish.”
Despite the adjustment period, Milian is thriving in her new environment.
“I love it there,” she said, describing France as beautiful and full of memories—especially since she met Matt there in 2017.
Host Jennifer Hudson summed it up perfectly: “It was meant to be.”
